Quality Control Inspector, Non-Destructive Testing
Title: Quality Control Inspector, Non-Destructive Testing Location: TN-Chattanooga * Conducts ultrasonic inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT) of rotor welds and rotor parts and informs appropriate individuals of any product deviations as specified in the technical documents, completing a non-conformance report (NCR) as required; ensures NCR's are correctly processed before next operation steps are being performed and that all required paperwork is documented * Performs identification checks on production parts according to work orders and performs visual and measuring inspections according to inspection and test plan as well as order-related documentation, approving parts or part operations with quality inspector stamp in required protocols and operation sheets * Collects all order-related production documents, documents intermediate steps as well as final measurements, and ensures operation sequences are followed; compiles completed quality documentation according to Alstom requirements as required and provides information to appropriate individuals * Ensures that all measuring equipment and devices are periodically checked, calibrated, clearly labeled, and maintained properly according to the Quality manual, ensures proper part protection at receiving of parts and ensures proper protection of all parts prior to the next operation * Maintains operation time in SAP system after completion of work, upholds and participates in the company quality and EHS programs, and performs other duties as assigned * This position may require major international travel in the first six (6) months for in-depth technical training * High school diploma or GED * Associate degree preferred * Five (5) years of manufacturing experience in quality control in medium or heavy manufacturing industries * Solid knowledge as a quality inspector in medium or heavy manufacturing industries * Demonstrated ability and experience using micrometers, gauges, calipers, and other precision measuring equipment * Ability to read and understand engineering drawings * NDT Ultrasonic Inspector Level II * Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands while maintaining professionalism * Ability to support a team and make appropriate decisions * Ability to work autonomously * Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications (Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) * Power generation experience preferred * ASQ certification as a CQT or CMI desired * Visual or mechanical inspection certification preferred * Capability to understand operational requirements and to drive for the definition and/or implementation of solutions * Ability to read, understand, and clearly speak the English language * Demonstrated ability to adapt, be flexible, and maintain enthusiasm and focus under the demands of a fast-paced, multi-cultural, and often changing environment * Able to adopt and live up to the company's Core Values of Trust, Team, and Action * Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including but not limited to: frequent sitting, standing, and walking; climbing and balancing on large equipment; use of ladders, kneeling, bending, some lifting or moving up to 50 lbs, and work with hand tools to perform duties
