Description

This is a full-time senior-level quality assurance analyst position located at the project offices in Fairfax, VA. The candidate must be able to lead all software testing efforts for a large web application. The candidate must possess (or have the ability to obtain) an active security clearance, and have a bachelors degree in computer science or business administration and a minimum of seven to nine years experience in a quality assurance/application testing role. Must have expert knowledge of web application testing, including but not limited to, developing test plans and scripts, executing both standardized and ad-hoc testing as well as developing a structured approach for conducting system, regression, integration and stress/performance testing. Must have the ability to perform detailed system scripting and modeling for complex reporting and show the ability to learn multiple business application environments and new platform environments to support data modeling. Experience working with process redesign methodologies, process re-engineering to ensure best practices, reporting methodologies and benchmarking and requirements management is a plus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Develop comprehensive testing/quality assurance plan for each application release.
2. Prepares functional test cases/scripts to test each software component.
3. Must be able to develop test conditions (alternatives, exceptions, etc.) and associated expected results.
4. Tests software to ensure high quality and accuracy is maintained through to software release.
5. Manages the defect database and lead all Defect Review Board (DRB) activities.
6. Reports test results and documents problems and issues to the defect database. Monitors and updates bug reports as needed including bug report closure.
7. Configures necessary hardware and operating environments as needed to complete assigned testing.
8. Provides technical expertise on specific products, operating systems and specialized environments.
9. Collaborates with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
10. Completes assigned test-related tasks.
11. Assists in the automation of relevant test procedures.
12. Assists in review of test processes as they are developed.
13. Assists in developing business and functional requirements under the direction of the requirements manager.
14. Provide periodic reports of testing activities to the project management.

EXPECTATIONS

1. Demonstrate the ability to independently lead and direct a team of testers.
2. Able to develop testing procedures that are repeatable and measurable.
3. Able to methodically produce the steps which exhibit bugs in the product and be able to reproduce and communicate these steps.
4. Possesses strong analytical and system skills required to develop a comprehensive testing strategy and interpret functional requirements with minimal supervision.
5. Specify and execute the controls to proactively identify and track issues.
6. Shows initiative in gaining in-depth experience in areas of technology relevant to testing of the application.
7. Shows initiative in gaining theoretical knowledge in software testing.
8. Works well in a team environment and alone.
9. Ability to adapt to the changing needs of a project.
10. Ability to meet deadlines.
11. Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally peer QA and development engineers, executives, managers, and subject matter experts regarding software defects.
12. Advanced MS Office experience is required. Experience with automated Defect Tracking and Requirements Management tools (i.e., Bugzilla, Rational RequisitePro) is a plus.
