Engine & Control Systems (E&CS) provides complete jet engine controls and accessory packages. From the fuel tank to the igniters, we have the resources and expertise to design, qualify, and manufacture first in class central systems for our aerospace engine customers.
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are looking for a Project Engineer to join the Engineering Partnership Office (EPO) to be part of the design and development of a new and exciting suite of electrical engine components for Pratt & Whitney PurePower'e engine platforms. The PurePower'e program is designing a series of commercial engines ranging in thrust from 10,000 to 30,000 lbs and includes applications for Airbus neo, Irkut MC-21, Bombardier C Series, Mitsubishi Regional Jet, and Pratt & Whitney Canada Business Jet Engines.
The Project Engineer will manage Category 1 Suppliers in the design, delivery, and certification of electrical components (e.g. temperature / pressure sensors, speed probes, harnesses, ignition leads, exciters, PMA). Candidate will be exposed to the multi- facets of a development program from requirements coordination to production incorporation while working in a cross-functional team environment. Ideal candidate should have an interest in project management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Project Management
* Assistance in the finalization of design requirements
* Requirements coordination with the Pratt & Whitney
* Supplier coordination and supplier engineering oversight
* Coordination of component interfaces
* Design review, (internal and external) oversight and coordination
* Product definition
* Execution and Compliance to Standard Work
* Management of cost control including regular cost status reporting
* Management of weight reduction efforts including regular weight status reporting
* Instrumentation coordination
* Hardware delivery tracking
* Industrial planning support
* Process Certification support
* Management of component qualification
* Qualification report writing
* Engineering change coordination
* Quality deviation coordination (QN', CAD')
* Engine test support
* Engine installation support
The candidate will work closely with the supply base to drive the design of these components following the Supplier Designed Engineering Standard Work processes. The candidate will work within the PurePower'e team as the project engineer for one or more Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). Detailed coordination with Commodity Management will be required in managing the suppliers. This position requires creation and delivery of technical presentations to management and customers.
* Project management, supplier coordination, technical writing, electrical and/or mechanical design and presentation experience are preferred
* This position requires coordination with external suppliers and other internal functional groupsSpecific experience in electrical design for turbofan engine applications is a plus
* Experience in one or more areas including: sensors, wire harnesses, ignition and PMA are a plus
* Proficiency in MS Office (Project, Excel, Power Point), Tiger, Standard Work, DOORS is a plus
Labor Grade will be determined based upon experience.
