Project Engineer:
The successful candidate will manage incoming business opportunities which will require an understanding of the business and technical requirements. As such, the candidate will participate and heavily interact with the various member of the Business Win Group to develop proposals and responses to the assigned business opportunities uests for Quotes (RFQ’s).
1. Understand each business opportunity in terms of business/commercial requirements as well as technical / manufacturing requirements and manage opportunity from initial qualification and review to completion and submission. 2. Provide technical guidance and supervision to the manufacturing engineering estimators and supply chain specialist of the Business Win Group and in some cases develop the manufacturing estimates and act as Liaison between the various internal groups, and the customer. 3. Analyze sheet metal hard/soft tool designs to ensure product manufacturability and reliability within the Sanmina-SCI capability matrix and define the optimal manufacturing strategy to achieve the objectives. 4. Provide value engineering services to various customers by conducting DFM evaluations and markup for customer documentation. 5. Responsible for development and recommendations for manufacturing solutions to be used to the basis for manufacturing estimation of products including make/buy analysis. 6. Able to convey customer requirements to internal groups. 7. Generate project opportunities as result of working with customer engineering teams identifying product that best fits our core competencies. 8. Monitor status of opportunities after proposal submission and manage wins until opportunity is transferred to the receiving site (working with Customer Engineering teams and Manufacturing teams achieving on-time project start-ups) and evaluate and understand reasons for losses for future improvements. 9. Contribute to the improvement of the organization by analyzing and recommending changes to the process.
Qualifications: -BS degree recommended, but not required, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred -4-6 years experience in a job dealing directly with the design and manufacture of sheet metal frames, enclosures, machining and assemblies. -Strong verbal and written communications skills as well as effective interpersonal skills. -Presentations skills are a plus -Must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal Sales personnel. -Excellent understanding of Excel based Bills of Material and pricing models. -CAD systems Pro-E preferred -Responsible for development and recommendations for manufacturing solutions for products. -Able to convey customer requirements to internal teams.
