Axsys Technologies, a Division of General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems with multiple operating divisions located throughout the US, manufactures and sells a broad range of high performance electro-mechanical and electro-optical components and sub-assemblies to the aerospace, defense, electronics capital equipment, graphic arts and medical imaging markets. Our Surveillance Systems Group - IR Cameras and Systems in Nashua, NH produces sophisticated infrared and visible cameras and systems for use in high-end military and commercial applications.
Basic Function:
Plan and coordinate all requirements necessary to build products using MRP generated data. Manage long-term agreements on specific commodities in order to achieve best overall costs. Manually plan all key material needs when product confirmation (Bill Of Materials) is not available.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
* Acting as a senior person in managing the next level of Production planner(s).
* Acting as a team leader in improving manufacturing operations by training and directing the concepts and application of Lean Manufacturing to next level of buyer/planner.
* Create work order schedules from the manufacturing plan/forecast.
* Interface with production supervisor to obtain completion of production schedule.
* Write work orders and coordinate kitting and material replenishment activities and priorities with the inventory control group.
* Monitor customer orders for product type and accessory, demand to insure on time delivery.
* Assists material coordinator and Finance with resolving work order variances.
* Manage all rework activity thru internal and or external rework orders.
* Attend MRB meetings and correct problem areas that continuously arise.
* Status all shortages to any WIP or eminent Kits during production meeting.
* Accurately prepare monthly schedule summaries of production requirements.
* Sets build schedule for a rolling 4 week window with the Production Manager.
* Resolve any work order or other shop floor control planning issues that are escalated by assembly leads in the product family.
* Notifies QAE(s)/ME's of any (Bill of Materials) quality or drawing related issues effecting supply chain and follows up as required.
* Working with ME flatting the levels of BOMs to fit the lean manufacturing process and identify back flush control to relief point of use inventory.
* Review Kanban requirements for accuracy of quantity level and correct point of consumption.
* Review and move all material requisitions through the planning cycle. Ensure that all requisitions are placed in a timely fashion.
* With the Materials Coordinator, coordinate and monitor cycle counting program within the Line of Business.
* Perform other job related duties as required.
Education:
Minimum of a Bachelors Degree Preferred or a combination of equivalent education and work experience.
Experience:
* 5-7 years Production Control / Planning experience in Lean manufacturing environment.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Must be tactful, discrete and have the ability to communicate effectively with all staff levels.
* Demonstrated capability to identify and facilitate change, and promote two-way, on-going communications with all disciplines of the business.
* Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
* Successful planning and scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment.
* APICS and/or ISM certification or progress towards certification desired.
* Excellent telephone, computer, and interpersonal skills required.
* MS Word and Excel, Power Point proficient.
