Job Description :
Summary of Position
Coordinates with Engineering and Product Development groups to develop, analyze and establish the requirements, specifications, procedures and other engineering documents necessary to obtain product listing through UL, CSA, VDE, NOM, etc.
Principle Accountabilities:
Must have comprehensive knowledge of UL and CSA Standards and testing procedures.
Prepares UL reports for various products for submittal to UL/CSA for Listing.
Coordinates and implements product testing at UL/ CSA to include follow-up submittals and product development to comply with UL/CSA Standards and to satisfy product introduction dates.
Assists in the analysis and interpretation of modifications and changes affecting UL & CSA Listing of current products.
Work with UL engineers & field inspectors to troubleshoot and resolve open issues that may arise.
Directs the maintenance of a documentation system which tracks product listing requests and their status to insure complete and accurate information is available to the organization.
Remains abreast of National Electrical Code and other Safety Standard changes in an effort to keep product development management educated on the potential impact for Cooper Wiring Devices.
Works with test lab to ensure testing is being conducted in accordance with applicable UL and CSA Standards.
Participate fully in the ECR/ECN process to review all potential changes for UL & CSA compliance. Alerting all departments to problems, drive resolution, update UL/CSA files accordingly.
Works with factories to establish/maintain UL follow-up services.
Works with UL and test lab to maintain UL Witness Test Data Program status.
Represent Cooper Wiring Devices at NEMA and IEC industry meetings.
Special projects as required by management. Job Requirements :
Nature and Scope:
The Product Standards Engineer reports directly to the Manager of Certifications & Standards. This position will also interface regularly with engineering, packaging, marketing, operations, lab & manufacturing.
Outside of the organization, the Product Standards Engineer will interface with representatives of the various standards organizations.
Job Requirements:
BS Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience working with Standards Agencies, such as UL,CSA or ETL.
Excellent computer skills required. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite required. Experience with Solidworks, Autocad and SAP preferred.
Well developed written and oral communication skills.
