Requisition Number 28396BR Position Title PRODUCT DESIGN ENGINEER Location of Position Canada-Ontario-Cambridge Business Group Control Products and Solutions Relocation Eligible Yes Position Type Full Time Position Summary Power Electronics Specialist, provides technical leadership and expertise for various aspects of Adjustable Speed Drives and soft starters including simulation, design and analysis. This will include the responsibility of testing, qualification and implementation of hardware and software necessary to support the designs.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: 1. Simulation, analysis and design of power converters, investigation of new technologies, including new power converter topologies and their control aspects. Detailed knowledge of state of the art converter topologies such as NPC and multi level converters, CSI, Z or Matrix converters required. 2. Power Semiconductors analysis including thermal evaluation and loss calculations (IGBTs, GCTs, SCRs, etc) 3. Experience in simulation and design tools (Matlab, Simulink, PS/M, etc.) 4. Knowledge of various AC motors and their control (Synchronous, Induction, PMSM, etc.) 5. Lead and carry out detailed research programs and prepare engineering reports 6. Technical support and guidance for Medium Voltage Adjustable Speed Drives including analysis, design of all Power Electronics related issues. 7. Strong interpersonal, communication and organization skills 8. Lead small projects when necessary . Minimum Qualifications Minimum B. of Sc. or B. Eng. In Electrical Engineering. Graduate degree a definite asset.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5 years in a Power Electronics related design engineering role 3 years in motor drives or Medium Voltage application Desired Qualifications Graduate degree a definite asset.
