Job Description:
The Specialist, Procurement is responsible for carrying out procurement and planning functions at a customer site. Assists in purchasing commodity products, chemicals, equipment, and supplies. Specialist is responsible for all aspects of daily order management and is able to solve complex problems with innovation and ingenuity. Assesses demand and replenishes inventories with an emphasis on ensuring service level goals are achieved. Assists in resolution of pricing and product issues. Expedites, cancels /defers and ensures purchase orders are aligned to support Customer need dates. Serves as a liaison between the customer, VWR and suppliers; maintains positive customer and vendor relationships. Evaluates suppliers based on capability, performance and delivery. Negotiates beneficial supplier agreements on behalf of the customer. Works with suppliers to improve cost, quality, delivery and lead time.

Job Responsibilities:
* Consult with customer production lines and manufacturing groups to understand demand forecasts; schedule material lots and review pricing
* Serve as a liaison between the customer and supplier for product sourcing
* Enter inventory, purchasing, and QC data into applicable VWR and customer systems; assists in 3rdparty vendor and item set-up
* Assist in qualifying new suppliers not through VWR
* Responsible for standing order set-up and maintenance within VWR and customer systems for planning
* Coordinate material delivery and set-up/installation; assists with emergency deliveries
* Change Notification compliance – update engineering change orders, part# updates, adding/deleting materials when needed
* Liaison for customer to negotiate pricing with VWR and non-VWR suppliers seeking beneficial supplier agreements.
* Provide reporting on material planning, open order, metrics, etc.
* Ensure compliance to FDA, CGMP and ISO9000
* Work with appropriate parties to resolve nonconformance issues for raw materials; document complaints, supplier investigation, root cause analysis of non-conformance, supplier corrective action (SCAR), and pre-planned deviations.
* Process International, domestic and capital orders; reconcile invoices
* Provide audit support and attend vendor shows as needed.
* Provide general Customer Service assistance: order processing, quotes, sample requests, returns, billing resolution

Experience & Skills:
* Proven order management competence and forecasting knowledge.
* Proficiency with MS Office suite (Expert level skills in Excel and Access)
* Strong problem solving skills.
* Ability to work independently to prioritize multiple competing tasks
* Solid written and verbal communication skills
* Strong analytical skills
* Formal problem solving training highly desirable.
* Presentation skills
* Oracle and SAP experience preferred

Qualifications:
* High school diploma required; Associates or Bachelors degree in Logistics/ Supply Chain desirable
* 3 - 5 years high volume Logistics/ Supply Chain experience.
