Reporting to the Superintendent, Process Control & IT in the Technical Services department, the Process Control Engineer is responsible for the development, maintenance and support of process control and information applications at Redwater Fertilizer Operations and Fort Saskatchewan Nitrogen Operations facilities. The incumbent will provide leadership in Operator Training Simulator deployment and their ongoing management. Specific responsibilities will include: * Primarily, managing and supporting Operator Training Simulators and Dynamic Simulation models, including life-cycle management and advising OTS technology direction. * Ownership of technical issues related to process control of the operating unit, including regulatory and advanced control, process monitoring and user HMI. * Providing process control expertise and applying advanced analytical and trouble-shooting skills to assist operations, maintenance and technical personnel in identifying and solving day-to-day production problems. * Identification, development and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities, employing regulatory and advanced control technologies, to ensure capacity utilization, efficiency and cost‑effective operation. * Design, implementation and management of improvement projects and M.O.C.’s. * Providing specific technical training to operations, maintenance and technical personnel. Qualifications of the position include: * The completion of a University degree in Chemical Engineering with specialization in Process Control. * Preference for those with a minimum of four years experience in petrochemical or refining industries. Familiarity with fertilizer production is an asset. * Must be a registered . or be eligible for registration with APEGGA. * Experience in advanced process modeling/simulation and data analysis. * Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written. * The ability to work in an operational team environment with minimal supervision. * Excellent computer skills with DCS and MS Office expertise. Experience with process analysis and simulation software is an asset.
