AutoReqId 6396BR Job Title Principal Systems Design Engineer SanDisk Job Description In this position, the individual will be responsible for defining and developing new architectures and algorithms for data storage systems based on flash memory, performing system performance analysis through software modeling and simulation of virtual platforms, and developing, analyzing, and testing of micro controller subsystems in mass storage architecture. The individual will innovate in the fields of data storage system architectures and flash storage management algorithms, analyze existing systems and determine system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters to optimize hardware/software performance, develop documents and specs on product requirements and interface behavior, and create and modify a performance model for an SSD, which involves working with the hardware and firmware teams to abstract the important algorithms and behavioral aspects and reduce this to a C based Discrete Event Simulation. Lastly, the individual will participate in Industry Standards development activity (JEDEC/ ONFi/EZ NAND), document storage system components and prepare for patent disclosures, support Systems Development and Review among Architecture, Production Firmware, ASIC, PCB hardware, and Production Test development teams, integrate models into virtual platforms for storage system simulation and run simulations, and specify and write software utilities as required.
This position requires at least 10 years experience in a relevant position, while a Masters degree in computer science, engineering, or physics is preferred. The individual must have strong C/C++ skills, while the ability to interact with PC file systems and drivers, experience with Python/Perl, and knowledge of PC operating systems and mass storage architectures are all advantages. The ideal individual must have proven ability to achieve results in a fast moving, dynamic environment. The individual must be self-motivated and self-directed, however, must have also demonstrated ability to work well with people and have a proven desire to work as a team member, both on the same team and outside of the team. In addition, the individual must have the abilities to work effectively cross-functionally, coordinate priorities and initiatives, troubleshoot and analyze complex problems, and to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills are required.
