Principal RFIC Design Engineer Category: Engineering Type: FullTimeEmployee Description: This position is responsible for defining optimum architecture applying knowledge across multiple disciplines (complete solutions) that enable and enhance Entropic’s competitive advantage and long term success. As a design engineer you will perform RFIC and mixed signal circuit design, optimization, and troubleshooting working on issues that impact design/selling success or address future concepts, products or technologies. Responsibilities will include schematic capture, simulation, and layout using Cadence tools, Sonnet EM simulation, as well as measurement and data analysis of initial Silicon. The qualified candidate will be disciplined and able to follow established design practices, and be able to manage projects across multiple disciplines. The position will also serve as an internal “consultant” on RFIC matters and help mentor more junior designers. Requirements: As a key member of the RFIC team, you are required to have a MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent. A minimum of 10 years of RFIC design experience in the following areas: * Expert in analog, mixed signal and RF circuit design as well as versed in design for test * Strong analytical and mathematical skills, e.g. Z and S domain analysis, complex small signal circuit analysis, filter analysis etc. * In depth understanding of RF systems and architectures, as well as digital communication techniques and methods * Understanding of digital design techniques, e.g. DSP and state machines * Proficient in programming, e.g. Matlab, C++, ocean... * Detailed understanding of all IC technologies, e.g. Si, SiGe, GaAs, CMOS... * Detailed understanding of DC and RF transistor modeling * In depth knowledge of IC design tools and simulators, e.g. Cadence, ADS, RF spectre, harmonic balance and time domain simulators * In depth knowledge of IC layout design and techniques, tools and verification methodologies * Proficient in test and measurement techniques, knowledgeable in board design techniques * Detailed knowledge of packaging technologies, board technologies and exotic technologies, e.g. mems, fbar, etc. * Strong ability to translate marketing requirements into product requirements * Effective good communication skills as the position interfaces with other engineering disciplines, * Able to work efficiently and with little direction * Able to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment Location San Diego , CA
