Job Description
Applies a solid understanding of engineering and problem-solving theories/practices toward the development of new or enhanced products or processes. Drives service product development process (PDP) deliverables and infrastructure required for initial product launch and lifecycle management. Participates on the R&D design team to select, develop, and implement technologies/features for Baxter medical device application software products globally.
1. Represents Technical Services on new product development and/or lifecycle management teams.
2. Creates PDP and lifecycle management service deliverables throughout the product lifecycle for products consisting of server and PC based software applications that interface with medical device hardware.
3. Creates global service plans for new product platform releases. Leads plan implementation for service training, support infrastructure and service manuals / instructions
4. Evaluates / makes recommendations on product releases related to design for serviceability. Creates (or modifies existing) servicing processes and manuals to support installation, maintenance and support activities.
5. Works closely with design team to select, develop, and implement technologies across all medical device development programs.
6. Analyzes key servicing metrics to identify and implement opportunities for improvement in service process quality, cost, or reliability.
7. Devises new approaches to complex problems through the application of sound technical principles / root cause analysis. Projects typically include the development of new or improved processes, tools, techniques and procedures.
8. May integrate third-party developed software application products into Baxter's service operations and support infrastructure.
9. May independently plan, schedule and lead cross-functional teams in detailed phases of the engineering work in a project.
10. May approve the work of lower level engineers; may supervise other engineers or technicians.
Job Requirements
Minimum qualifications:
1. Must be well versed in application software products; server architecture; and IT technical support processes
2. Highly motivated self-starter who is able to work independently, relate to multiple stakeholders, have good interpersonal skills, have good time management ability, and is capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and application of sound engineering principles.
3. Experienced with change control methodologies and configuration management principles.
4. Ability to exercise independent judgment and draw conclusions based on available information.
5. Strong process orientation, critical thinking and analytical skills.
6. Firm understanding of GMP and quality system requirements
7. Must have the ability to travel.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (electrical, software, systems, or process engineering) plus 6-8 years of experience. Medical device experience or other regulated industry experience preferred. Experience in the use of Lean Six Sigma tools desirable.
