Job Description :
Job Summary:Trouble shoot, adjust, and program PLC equipment while maintaining the quality of product with the least amount of disruption to production.
Knowledge and Skills (Education):
· Must be able to read and write in English
* Post Secondary Education:
* Electro-Mechanical Technician Diploma preferred
* Provincial Certification Red Seal 309A or 442A required
* 5 – 7 years experience in similar role
* Ability to work independently and draw from experience with minimal supervision
* Ability to problem solve where issues vary considerably
* Knowledge of technical specialties and capable of working with moderately complex procedures;electrical trouble shooting of low voltage (120 V), spot and MIG welding, PLC programming (Allen Bradley processors required, OMRON an asset)
Major Accountabilities:
* Trouble shoot equipment consisting of weld controllers, robotics and programmable logic controllers
* Design electrical and electronic circuits
* Program PLC’s, AC/DC drives and Servo Drives
* Modify robot, PLC programs, and machine screen interfaces (HMI’s) as required
* Preventative maintenance and repairs as required
* Ensure machines produce quality parts by maintaining equipment
* Change welding consumables such as electrodes, caps and MIG weld tips and nozzles as needed
* Ensure robot and PLC programs are modified in a manner that maintains or improves part quality
* Trouble shoot and repair equipment components which cause down time in a timely fashion
* Adjust MIG and spot welding schedules on Medar, Lincoln, Miller and Panasonic weld controllers
* Abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following; Health and safety,Quality and Environmental Systems, Human resources policies, and Martinrea Employee Handbook
* Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c)).
Working Conditions:
* 100% plant floor (PPE required)
* Frequent requirement of handling heavy equipment (operation)
* Frequent need to give concentrated attention to surroundings
Decision Making and Authority:
* Decision Making:
o Modifications to weld settings
o Changes to weld schedules and settings to maintain optimal weld strength and quality
o In what manner to make the repair or change
* On afunctionalbasis this role has the following reporting relationships:
* Indirectly reports to Welding Supervisor
* Recommendations:
o Changing a welding or assembly process part or work instruction for better part quality or cycle time improvement
o Tip change frequency
o Improvements for production output
* Quantitative Measurables:
* 40 automated cells and stations
* 30/ 40 calls per day
Back-up Duties:
· Perform other duties as required
