Requisition Number 28410BR Position Title PACKAGING ENGINEER Location of Position United States-Wisconsin-Milwaukee Business Group Operations and Engineering Services Relocation Eligible No Position Type Full Time Position Summary This position offers an opportunity to become part of a team that is responsible for total cycle packaging strategies based on lowest total cost. This requires working closely with corporate logistics, product development, manufacturing engineering, marketing, sourcing, and quality engineering. The objective of establishing packaging engineering as a global resource requires a highly motivated and talented individual that is able to provide technical leadership.
The individual selected for this position will be expected to plan and direct the design and development of protective packaging. They must have the ability to analyze engineering drawings, product specifications, customer requirements, and marketing strategies to determine appropriate packaging methods and materials.
Responsibilities include the ability to complete packaging specifications & proposals, request & evaluate packaging samples, complete all required documentation, and research distribution dynamics to develop and complete appropriate validation testing.
Works independently and with other engineers in the development and improvement of the manufacturing, packaging, and distribution process. This will require the individual to advise internal and external customers on efficient packaging procedures and material innovations. On occasion the individual may interface directly with customers to address package-related damage
Technical requirements include: a sound understanding of the global distribution environment, knowledge of common packaging methods & materials, experience with sustainable packaging, awareness of current & proposed environmental legislation, a commitment to continuous improvement, a willingness to expand knowledge though education and training, and the ability to embrace Lean manufacturing as a fundamental value of a World Class Packaging Engineering department. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or a relevant engineering degree with packaging experience
Demonstrated experience in protective package design and evaluation
Experience with and knowledge of current transportation test standards (e.g. ISTA, ASTM)
Familiarity with one or more CAD software applications (e.g. AutoCAD, ProEngineer, etc.)
Demonstrates Project Management knowledge, skills, and abilities
A willingness and ability to travel (domestic & international) Desired Qualifications SAP Knowledge and Experience
