Job Description:
Scientific Materials Corp. (SMC), a subsidiary of FLIR Systems, located in Bozeman, MT, develops high quality crystal growth technology. At SMC, it is firmly believed that developing crystal growth and fabrication by scientific methods, in place of the traditional artistic method, will enable SMC to become the leader in quality and performance in the rapidly expanding opto-electronic materials market.

SMC is looking for Opto Mechanical Assembly Technicians who will be able to complete duties that may include; assembly of precision components or subsystems having both opto-mechanical and electro-optical assemblies. Perform test and verification procedures for complex opto-mechanical and electro-optical components and subassemblies using defined production procedures.

Core Responsibilities:
1. Assembles and tests individual sub assemblies.
2. Performs Basic soldering
3. Performs precision cleaning and preparation of components for assembly / usage in subsystems or end products.
4. Performs complex bonding and curing procedures.
5. Operates basic test equipment, instruments and automated test documentation.
6. Inspects and verifies that work is complete and correct.
7. Assists in problem solving and troubleshooting.

Other Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as may be required/assigned from time to time.








Qualifications:
Ideal candidate will have a High school diploma. They will have the demonstrated ability to learn on the job, are meticulous regarding attention to detail,and have visual acuity and manual dexterity. Must have the physical ability to walk and to stand for long periods and able to lift 50 lbs.
