Job Description:
SUMMARY
Operates or tends various Primary and Secondary single or multiple axis lathes, drill presses, cutoff saws, thread rollers, spinning machines, and punches, that cut, shape, bend, deburr or mark many types of components by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES . Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodation for disabilities may be made for one or more of the following:
. Inspect work pieces for defects, and measure work pieces to determine accuracy of machine operation, using rules, templates, or other measuring instruments. . Observes and listens to machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools. Notifies Supervisor in case of detection. . Change worn machine accessories such as cutting tools and brushes, using hand tools. . Start machines, and turn hand wheels or valves to engage feeding, cooling, and lubricating mechanisms. Notifies supervisor in case of discrepancies.
. Recognizes improper machine functioning and recognizes defects in machinery, measuring instruments or equipment and informs leads or immediate supervisor when machine maintenance is needed.
. Perform minor machine maintenance, such as oiling or cleaning machines, dies, or work pieces, or adding coolant to machine reservoirs.
. Reads blueprint or job traveler for product specification such as dimensions, tolerance, number or parts to be formed and tooling instruction on type of tooling required.
. Performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, and follows safety regulations.
. Performs some or all of the following processes: cross drilling, chip removal, sorting parts from chips, beadblasting, sorting, backfacing, deburring, buffing, polishing, tapping, remove cut-off, etc.
. Machines metallic and nonmetallic materials.
. Implements and suggests waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as recycling opportunities and elimination of production or paper waste
. Other duties assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education and/or Experience
. High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience. . Working experience or knowledge of general machine shop practice. . Working knowledge of blueprint interpretation. . Some knowledge of basic measuring tools.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer skills
