Qualifications
Education/Certifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Communications or equivalent is required. Certifications high desirable: CCNA or JNCPIA. CCNP or JNCIS preferred.
Technical Skills/Experience
Minimum 5 years experience in data networking and telecommunications, including expert knowledge of TCP/IP and working ""hands on"" knowledge of routing and ethernet switching. Minimum 5 years hands-on experience configuring routers, switches and related network equipment (Cisco, Juniper and F5) (Cisco CRS1, 12K, 10K, 7500, 7304, 3800, routers, Cisco 6500, Nexus, CSS, and ATM products, Cisco MGX8850/8950 ATM switch, Cisco IOS, XR, NX-OS, Juniper 8200, Junos, F5 6400,6900 and Viprion, A10 Networks). Minimum 5 years experience in IPv4/v6 addressing, OSPF, BGP, Ethernet VLANs, PPP, Frame Relay, ATM, MPLS, PNNI, DS0 through OC-192 circuits, CSU/DSUs, standard telephony/ethernet cabling plants.
Strong network design, configuration and troubleshooting skills required. Strong project management skills required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral). Strong understanding of structured network design required. Strong understanding of the OSI Interconnect model and how it relates to the design and deployment of structured networks required. Ability to handle multiple projects required. Ability to be intuitive and resourceful is highly desirable. Good PC skills on Windows, MS Office, Project, and Visio. Knowledge of general telephony architecture and principles. Knowledge of MPLS switching desirable. Knowledge of SecureID, TACACS and radius desirable.
Overnight travel may be required but will be less than 10% of your time (mainly for training). Other Remarks: Training will be provided on an as needed basis. Technical & Project Implementation presentations may be periodically required for Regional Operations and Engineering s is a Network Data Engineering position that will be responsible for the engineering of LAN/WAN IP Data Center Networks. The engineer must balance multiple projects in an environment with high performance expectations to be deliver on time and to specification.
Provide engineering support for the WSN (Wireless Services Network), WVN (Wireless Voice Network), EDN (Engineering Data Network), and IT (Information Technology) and next generation MPLS networks. Configure and support IP routers, Ethernet switches, MPLS switches, Server Load Balancers and legacy ATM equipment to meet customer, network capacity, and project demands. Present design input, implement hardware, and provide extensive technical support and documentation for LAN/WAN networks. Perform network element audits to ensure optimization. As internetworking issues are discovered, proactively offer guidance to Data Operations for issue resolution. Provide 4th tier technical support to Data Operations on all networking issues. Build/maintain relationships with regional engineering and operations.
