Mechanical Technician
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
ManTech Technical Services Group established itself as an industry leader in worldwide technology, providing support to the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, other key Department of Defense customers and Federal Agencies. We invite you to consider becoming an important member of our team.

Position is deployed to South West Asia in support of an electronic/electro-mechanical, optic sensor surveillance system. Selected candidate will receive 1week of specialized system training prior to deployment.

Candidate must be willing to work and live in U.S. Military Bases and travel between U.S. Bases by Military AIR or Force Protected convoy. Overseas work in the South West Asia will be compensated including hardship, hazardous differentials and bonus pay. U.S. DOD SECRET security clearance is required. Candidate must possess a valid US drivers license, passport and maintain deployment readiness.

Performs system diagnostic testing, fault isolation to defective system component; makes repairs in a shop environment and also at the customer location. Performs inspection of system components, preventive maintenance, diagnostic testing and troubleshooting in order to isolate and replace the system's lowest level defective component. Maintains and repairs mechanical mast assemblies, optical sensor equipment to include fiber-optics, communications and computer controlled equipment. Candidate must have a strong background in electronics with troubleshooting experience in electrical systems. Must possess basic mechanical skills and have experience in the use of mechanical tools, soldering equipment and Test Equipment to include: Digital Volt-Ohm Meter, Signal Generator, Power Meter and Fiber-Optic Probes, Light Emitters and Luminosity Detector. Hydraulics experience a MUST.

Performs reporting, data entry and logistic support work using web-based applications. Must have proficient computer skills with experience in navigating the web, windows based applications, usage of email to include sending attached documents and digital photos. Must be capable of performing analyses of system operations.

Must have knowledge of and experience in the operations of hardware systems and components. Must have experience in fault detection, isolation, and correction of hardware systems and individual components. Must be capable of routine system maintenance and analysis functions including: hardware configurations; adding, removing and replacing hardware components; use of hardware and software diagnostic testing tools; reading of electronic and mechanical schematics.
Experienced in hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and suspension systems. Must have an analytical ability sufficient to independently diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults. Working knowledge of Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) and in the use of technical manuals, repair parts manuals, and maintenance allocation charts (MAC).

Excellent oral and written communication skills are required to communicate with customer, support agency and document equipment status and problematic areas. A thorough knowledge of units of measurements, ability to calculate basic electrical and mechanical values is required. Must have the ability to evaluate system performance, install approved system modifications, and recommend system architecture and technical change proposals. Works with minimal supervision, provides system functional briefings to customer and supervisor.

Performs logistic support requirements such as research, and equipment and spare part inventories.

This position is in a TDY status in SWA; reassignment from one U.S. Military Base to another may be required based on the needs of the contract.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
Education/Experience: Minimum 5 years directly relevant experience AND a Bachelors degree in CS, IS, Eng, Bus, or related scientific or technical discipline. Thirteen years directly relevant experience in lieu of bachelor's degree may be acceptable.
