Mechanical/Process Engineer
Talascend LLC an engineering resource and staffing company, is currently seeking a Process Engineer for a client in Knoxville, Tennessee
Purpose of Position:
To provide engineering and technical support formanufacturing operations.
Processes include perforating presses, spacer presses, heat treatment, grinding, coating, and forming and welding areas.
The objective of the engineer is to assist in the production ofquality productsat planned rate to meet customer demand & achieve objectives detailed in Policy Deployment.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Procedures:
a. Lead by positive example from the foundation of company Core Values of Integrity, Respect, Performance, Outside-in Focus, Action Oriented and Teamwork.
b. Support all grinding equipment and with overlapping responsibilities in other areas of blade making.
c. Work with CNC machines for grinding
d. Grinding thin steel with high precision at high speeds
e. Design, usage, and programming of high precision measurement systems including Indicators, LDVT, CMM, and machine vision
f. Evaluation, selection, design, and support of grinding wheels, fixtures, and dressing systems.

h. Support all press systems including Spacer, Perforation, and Forming and Welding machines
i. Support continuous improvement initiatives through the use of lean principles to include policy deployment objectives.
j. Develop, initiate and support plans of action to ensure a quality product and meet customer demand.
k. Project Management skills including preparation of Capital Funds Authorizations (CFA) and maintaining the project within approved budget guidelines and timelines.
l. Responsible for project management to include: obtaining necessary quotes, awarding project bids, and following-up to ensure projects are completed to specifications as scheduled.
m. Responsible for obtaining parts for equipment and development of preventive maintenance programs.
n. Develop and maintain records for regulatory compliance programs as assigned.
o. Identify and provide technical guidance and employee training as necessary.
p. Work to ensure a safe work environment.
q. Other duties as identified and assigned.
Pre-Qualifications: 4-year (BS) degree in a technical engineering discipline (BSME, BSMET, etc) Must be available to work any shift.
Must have a minimum of 5 years, hands-on experience in general mechanical engineering/process engineering.
Must be able to correctly read and interpret instruments and gages. Above average safety awareness.
Must be able to competently design using 3dmodeling techniques with Inventor, Solidworks, or Pro-E.
Many models will contain complicated assembly features.
Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Requirements:
EDUCATION: 4-year (BS) degree in a technical engineering discipline, MBA a plus.
Technical training in mechanics preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Technical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
Production cylindrical or surface grinding a variety of parts.
Grinding thin steel with high precision at high speeds.
Previous production supervisory experience a plus.
Machine Vision systems
High Speed assembly machines
CNC programming
Six Sigma Black or Green Belt
Familiar with CMM measurements
