Role Summary/Purpose The Mechanical Engineering Technician will assemble equipment and perform tests for hydraulic pressure blow out preventers (BOPs) and pump systems.
Essential Responsibilities
* Perform general testing of various mechanical assemblies

* Build related prototype parts and products to perform mechanical tests

* Devise, fabricate and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies

* Setup and test complete units

* Record test procedures and results and make recommendations for changes in equipment

* Maintain accurate data on functional test results and provide status and engineering service reports

* Build prototype parts and products, and make modifications to test fixtures for testing

* Interface with Engineering, Manufacturing and Inside Sales teams

* Perform lab maintenance
Qualifications/Requirements
* High School Diploma / GED

* Minimum of 3 years of experience working in development laboratories, mechanical laboratories, technical laboratories or shop related work environment
Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
Desired Characteristics
* Proficient with instrumentation technology

* Proficient in using Microsoft Office i.e., Word, Excel and PowerPoint

* Experience with oil and gas tool products with intimate knowledge of Servo Hydraulics, Ram and Annular blow out preventer

* Responsible, reliable and trustworthy individual

* Must follow all EHS guidelines, be safety conscious, and able to work independently

* Able to use electronic measurement devices, precision measuring tools, data collection systems and skillful at applying and using instrumentation devices and methods

* Must be open to accept change and be able to work on assigned tasks with minimal supervision

* Have knowledge in reading wiring schematics, hydraulic piping schematics, be able to troubleshoot and conduct performance diagnostic testing on laboratory testing equipment

* Must be able to work in a team environment

* Experience in Windows 'XP/7 and NI LabVIEW and NI Lookout experience would be a plus

* Forklift operator certification

* Associates Degree or some college
