Essential Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Cramlington and Stutensee Mechanical Engineers and Designers & contract teams of Engineers/Designers in mechanical aspects of design, development and testing of inline inspection systems, associated handling and test equipment.
* Recruitment , development & training of Cramlington and Stutensee Mechanical Engineers and Designers & contract (Engineers & Designers) as necessary to align resource capacity with discipline demand from NTI, NPI, and Commercially funded development projects
* As a resource manager, agree to project plan tasking related to mechanical and electro-mechanical disciplines, and supervise the completion of said tasks for on time and on budget delivery.
* Ensure all design solutions meet client CTQ requirements and take account for standardization, value engineering, maintainability, project timescales and budgets.
* Continuous development of the skill set of the team through training and the standardisation of design tools and methodology. Measure team quality and implement methods to improve quality on a continuous basis.
* Responsible for estimates, plans, reports, and spend against project and department budget.
* Ensure the production of design documentation that meets company specifications and clearly defines purpose, parameters and performance
* Ensure adherence to all design practices and GE Six Sigma quality methodology in all development projects.
Qualifications/Requirements
* Mechanical Engineering degree BSC or equivalent minimum.
* Experience in the design and development of complex electro mechanical equipment demonstrating good all round engineering experience.
* Supervisory and management experience leading a team of professional engineers and designers and other technical staff operating in a high technology field.
* Practical and analytical experience that can be applied to solve complex electro mechanical problems.
* Experience in the management and control of multiple projects with variety of resources both internal and outsourced and achieve deadlines.
* Ability to work in a global and cross-functional environment.
* Strong communication & presentation skills
* Overseas travel will be required to manage multi location team
Desired Characteristics
* Corporate member of a senior engineering institution.
* Experience in the technology aspects of pipeline inspection equipment.
* Knowledge of oil and gas pipeline design and operation.
* Green Belt certification or higher (GE Employees only)
