Title: Mechanical Engineering Consultant-Packaging Engineer Location: Mississippi-PASS CHRISTIAN Provides packaging equipment leadership and support across the circuit. Works closely with the site reliability, quality improvements and operation resources to enable optimum packaging rates, uptime, and delivered package quality. The role serves as the business center for packaging technology and ensures that the knowledge is shared and transferred across the supply chain
Main Job Responsibilities:
1. Lead the technical efforts to improve equipment reliability to improve uptime and process capability. 2. Leads basic data preparation for projects aimed at improving packing equipment uptime and rate. 3. Conducts package equipment performance audits. Provides guidance on issue resolution and performance improvement. 4. Continually evaluates industry trends with: Powder packaging, handling, palletizing, conditioning and dust control equipment. 5. Continually evaluates industry environmental trends, return, re-use, etc. 6. Actively participates in the Deliver Package Quality Sustainability Team . Provide ME consulting expertise to include but not limited to the following areas: - Improving ventilation and air handling systems - Improving/designing dust collection systems - Exploring alternative technologies for the Sliddell's - Recommending best practices to improve equipment reliability and uptime - Providing design guidance to improve/modify current equipment

Position Requirements:
hanical engineer with 5 plus years and/or equivalent experience with packaging equipment involved in handling powders. At a minimum primary experience should be in non-rigid packaging (e.g. Multiwall Kraft paper bags, gusseted plastic bars, woven fabric SBCs, etc.).
t be familiar with Package performance determination methods: drop tests, paper types and properties, bag manufacturing (i.e. SBC and Kraft paper). trol of fine dusts sealing technology: heat welding for PE bags, hot melt application for gusseted paper bags tiwall, gusseted plastic, and semi-rigid (SBC) bag specifications for performance, manufacturing tolerances, manufacturing processes letizing and load securement practices (stretch/shrink film), pallet designs and computer/electro-mechanical machine controls.
