Role Summary/Purpose The product development team at GE Downhole Technology is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a leading-edge R&D team developing Measure / Logging While Drilling systems for the oil and gas industry. In this role, you will be actively involved in the mechanical design of projects develop cutting edge technology that serves a broad portfolio of applications in hostile Downhole environments.
Essential Responsibilities
* Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards and product requirements

* Act as the design authority for the sensor packaging and mechanical application aspects of the instruments you are involved in developing

* Develop practical and innovative ways to design for manufacture and field serviceability

* Leverage expertise to resolve problems found during the manufacturing process or in the field

* Document and ensure technical data generated is consistent with engineering policies and procedures

* Develop innovative designs to exceed or meet all requirements for performance, reliability, cost and manufacturability

* Use 3D CAD models to explore design options, then create component and assembly drawing

* Development of prototypes, conduct performance testing and author design documentation

* Verify product sub-system performance
Qualifications/Requirements
* Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

* Minimum of 2 years of experience in an R&D environment

* Minimum of 1 year of experience designing downhole equipment/tools for Oil & Gas
Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
