Mechanical Engineer (Electronics Packaging)
Title: Mechanical Engineer (Electronics Packaging) Location: Iowa-Cedar Rapids, IA Seeking a high-energy person to be a Mechanical Engineer for the Government Systems (GS) Mechanical Design Group. The group is responsible for the electronics packaging technology development of future miniature avionic and data link products, among other electronic products.
Candidate must possess knowledge of principles and techniques commonly used in product development, perform assignments requiring the use and application of beginning to moderate mechanical engineering principles and techniques and be capable of performing mechanical design to meet system requirements.
Responsibilities include developing design, documentation modification, production support, supporting printed circuit card layouts, performing tolerance analysis, working with cross-functional teams to develop solutions to production and field problems, initial design analysis, prototyping, and environmental testing. Specific tasks includeenclosure structural design, thermal, vibration, other environmental considerations, design verification, prototype build and production transition to the factory. With successful development, the candidate will be responsible for the design and development of more complex modules and complete products.
Mechanical Engineer must have the ability to work in a team environment where the individual will interact with various engineering teams such as other mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and system engineers.
Additional Requirements: Demonstrated understanding of electronic packaging design experience. Proficiency in MS Office products and working knowledge of mechanical 3D CAD, UG-NX and analysis tool such as ANSYS is a plus. Must also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to support frequent internal and external meetings. Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments are essential.
Bachelor's Degree in applicable engineering or science field, and 2-5 years of related experience, or, Master's degree, 1-4 years of related experience. Candidate must currently hold, or be able to obtain a Security Clearance. US Citizenship is required.
