Mechanical Engineer 4
Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems including factors for ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability, strength-weight efficiency, contractual specification requirements and cost, and improved quality of customer products (sustaining engineering); must ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
Checks engineering drawings and related documents for soundness, efficiency, and simplicity in design; completeness, clarity, and dimensional accuracy; correctness of materials and processes; identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in to responsible engineers or designers. Ensure conformity to design/drafting standards, design specifications, and economy of fabrication, assembly, and installation.
Responsible for leading the mechanical engineering staff providing objective-oriented direction to subordinates utilizing management guidelines & general policies. Coordinate and assign duties of daily operations of an ME and sustainment team including supervision of the staff, assignment of work, schedules and day to day workflow.
Good leadership skills and mentoring junior engineers in good design practices; Able to work in a diverse, cross-functional team; High energy and a self-starter attitude, goal-oriented, flexible, able to balance multiple tasks; Ability to thrive in a deadline driven environment without compromising personal integrity.
Basic Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 9 years experience or an MSME with 7 years experience is required. Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD tool.
US Citizenship, clearable to at least secret level.
Preferred Qualifications: A current Secret Clearance is highly preferred but not required. P roject management experience.
