Position Summary:
This position reports to the MerCruiser Current Product Engineering Manager. The main role of this position will be design improvements and production support for marine gearcase and drive products.
Roles and Responsibilities:
. Provides engineering support in the area of mechanical component design and development . Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, criteria, and judgment to assignments . Completes engineering assignments with clear and specified objectives . Develops and executes validation test plans at the component and system level . Directs the activities of CAD designer(s) and technicians assigned to a project . Interface with cross-functional team(s) as needed
Job Requirements: Required Qualifications:
. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required, Master's Degree in Engineering desired . 5-10 years Engineering Experience, Marine drive experience desired . Experience with bolted joint construction . Design and development experience with rotating mechanical components, such as gear or transmission systems, mechanical drive systems . Experience designing and applying mechanical components manufactured using processes such as casting, stamping, forging, machining, molding (plastics), etc. . Experience or knowledge of the Marine / Boating industry . Able to work effectively within a cross functional team . Works well under the pressure to meet key deliverables in a compressed timeframe . Strong computer skills; specifically in MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Preferred Qualifications:
. Experience interfacing with global suppliers desirable . ProEngineer solid modeling experience . Experience with analysis including structural, thermal, and driveline simulation . Experience with marine and/or application of parts to environmentally corrosive atmospheres, such as salt water
