Zachry Engineering Corporation has been responsible for the design of more than 39,000 megawatts of power plant capacity and design work on ethanol facilities that produce more than 2 billion gallons per year. Ground-up and upgrade designs for fossil-fuel plants, renewable energy facilities including solar and air quality control systems are all part of the experience Zachry Engineering brings the energy industry. Our engineers have extensive experience in the food and beverage industries, process and energy plants and other industrial facilities. ZEC currently has offices located in Denver, CO, Amarillo, TX, Charlotte, NC, Houston, TX, Minneapolis, MN, and Omaha, NE.
Zachry Engineering is currently seeking two positions for the Omaha, NE Design Center. A Mechanical Drafter II and a Mechanical Designer. The Mechanical Designer position applies manual and computerized drafting methods with a working knowledge of the terms and procedures to obtain engineered mechanical drawings and models. Assignments will be completed utilizing information provided by project managers, project engineers or technical services staff.
Responsibilities
Develop piping systems and mechanical systems.
Ability to produce complex 2D or 3 D engineering drawings.
Responsible for checking drawings for accuracy including dimensions, spelling, drafting standards and completeness utilizing correct project design criteria
Participation in field walk downs, as necessary, to obtain measurements, verify as-built documentation, and develop field sketches in support of plant modifications and design installations will occasionally be required
Ability to communicate with project engineers and other disciplines to develop drawings and resolve design discrepancies.
Exercise independent judgment to develop designs with minimal direction from Design Supervisor, Design Lead or Engineering and will concurrently support multiple projects
Ability to interface with the customer and their construction representatives to integrate designs as required.

Associates Degree in drafting, design or engineering technology or 4 years of equivalent experience in the design of mechanical systems may substitute year for year for degree.
Previous drafting or design experience in the power industry, heavy industrial and food services is preferred.
Seven (7) to nine (9) years experience in engineering drafting and familiarity with mechanical design practices in addition to education requirements.
Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation CAD software packages and Microsoft Office software.
Must have knowledge of 3D modeling.
Recent plant modification package development and/or field experience on power plant or industrial projects is a plus
