This is an exciting opportunity to join an international leader in the design and manufacture of pumps, systems and accessories for residential, municipal and commercial applications including water, wells, HVAC systems, pressure boosters, boiler controls and fire protection. ITT's brands serving Residential and Commercial Water markets include Goulds Pumps, Lowara, Bell & Gossett, McDonnell & Miller, Vogel, A-C Fire Pump and Flowtronex.
Later this year, ITT will spin off a new company, XYLEM, which will be the largest pure-play water equipment company in the world. XYLEM seeks employees with the ingenuity, skill and commitment to help solve the world's largest water challenges. Specifically, we are seeking a Mechanical Designer.
The incumbent leads in the planning, organizing and preparation of the sales and production drawings under the general guidance and direction of the Value Stream Manager. Provides leadership, motivation and guidance to involved personnel in the Irrigation Value Stream and supports continuous improvement in all endeavors. The duties will be as follow:
1. Provide organizational leadership to develop and maintain a strong mechanical design team.
2. Develop a method of continuous improvement for mechanical drafting and design.
3. Prepare layouts, assembly, and detail drawings for new or improved products.
4. Updates existing drawings from change orders.
5. Analyzes various design requirements and recommends possible solutions or alternate construction.
6. Identifies training requirements, initiates development of subordinates, and recommends effectives personnel action.
7. Develops an understanding of manufacturing costs and utilizes these inputs to improve drawing quality to reduce cost

Required Experience: Required:
. A.S. or B.S. technical degree or equivalent experience.
. 2-4 years related experience in manufacturing or related industry.
Other Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
. Knowledge of drafting standards
. Knowledge of AutoCad 2D, AutoDesk Inventor 6, Word, Excel, Pro-E.
. Accurate and detail oriented
. Effective communication skills, both oral and written
. Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities
. Interpersonal skills-ability to be tactful with diverse personalities
