Job Description: Position Summary
The Mechanical Design Draftsman is responsible for providing specialised mechanical design and drafting services for major engineering projects and to be accountable for the delivery of design documentation packages to high technical standards, on time and within budget.
You will assist in building team relationships and technical staff development as well as creating and managing a centralised technical resource library working towards standardising and streamlining the design processes.
The position may require some site work from time to time so a willingness and flexibility to undertake such works is desired.
Responsibilities / Objectives
. Accountable for leading the delivery of the project design documentation using AUTOCAD to the high standards; . Attention to accurate detailed designs and commitment to quality are essential; . Able to implement quality and design management systems; . Commitment to delivery of design tasks on time and budget is essential; . Calculate estimated time for work completion . Focus on the project design documentation requirements and specifications . Maintain documentation records and proper filing of the soft copies of generated deliverables in the system network/project directory in accordance with URS standards . Benchmark and standardise design practises and resource information databases
The successful applicant will be required to:
. Manage design documentation packages and undertake technical work associated within mining, resources, infrastructure, water and gas project portfolios . Coordinate and liaise with engineers and design managers and others; . Coordinate URS and allocated contract resources to meet project requirements . Assist with preparation of design tenders and proposals; . Participate in workgroup technical activities; . Support project teams in achieving stated goals . Introduce new design management models and procedures
