Mechanical Department Manager Location:Edmonton Alberta
Job Description: MECHANICAL DEPARTMENT MANAGER * Using AutoCAD to mechanically design projects * Research and analyze customer's needs. * Specify system components or direct modification of designs to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications. * Research, design, evaluate, and maintain mechanical design standards and systems to meet industry requirements. * Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment to ensure such mechanical systems and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications. * Provide feedback to design engineers on customer problems and needs. * Estimate costs and submit bids for engineering, construction, or extraction products, and preparation of contractual documents related thereto. * Solicit new business and provide technical costumer service. * Actively develop skills as an Mechanical Engineering Manager by seeking out and attending relevant courses or programs related to the management of staff or the advancement of technical or related Engineering skills. * Completion of Review of all employees in the Mechanical Engineering department on an annual basis, completion of reviews of any new employee(s). Creation and implementation of methods of staff planning, staff or customer communication. * Supervision of workflow and supervision of the quality of work produced by the employees in the Mechanical Engineering Department. * Discipline and managing the professional development of the employees within the Mechanical Engineering Department. * Being a key decision maker in the hiring and firing of any employee(s) within the Mechanical Engineering Department. * Being a key participant in the administration of the profit sharing program as it relates to the Mechanical Engineering Department. * Lead work meetings for the Mechanical Department on a weekly or bi-weekly basis (frequency will depend on workflow). * Oversee and complete the invoicing of all Mechanical projects on a monthly or as needed basis.
