Mechanical Components Design Engineer

Our industrial products serve industries ranging from hydrocarbon, chemical and food processing to construction and mining.
Within the Aircraft Products Electronics - Shared Engineering Services group, the Mechanical Components engineer will select off-the-shelf and custom components such as connectors (filtered and non-filtered), magnetics (transformers, chokes, inductors), contacts, fasteners and switches for use in new electronic box applications for Engine Systems , Dynamic Controls and Air Management Systems. For existing programs, activities would include problem identification, root cause analysis and development of corrective actions. Position requires close coordination with component manufacturers. Tasks will also include obsolescence reviews, identification and execution of cost reduction and quality improvement initiatives. The mechanical component engineer will work with Integrated Product Development teams to create or change drawings, specifications and design standards. Responsibilities will include creating and updating databases of preferred parts or materials and working with the Purchasing and Supplier Quality groups to develop capable manufacturers while minimizing cost, weight and lead time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: BSME, BSAE, or BS Materials Engineering required
EXPERIENCE: Minium of 3 years of working experience required
IND. EXP: Aerospace, Defense, Automotive, Space, Energy, Industrial, Manufacturing, Heavy Machinery manufacturing, Government
Position is in the Hamilton Sundstrand Shared Engineering Services Components Engineering department, located in Windsor Locks, CT. Occasional travel to visit suppliers.
