Materials Process & Physics Engineer 2

Provides daily technical leadership in support of Boeing Chemical Process Management program standards in metal finishing areas. Daily coordination with Chemical Process Manager, Operations, Maintenance, EHS, research and development, contractors, and other organizations. Supports training requirements for safe operations, regulatory compliance, efficient processing, startup/shutdown, and equipment operations. Develops documentation and operating procedures. Conducts incident investigations and process hazard analysis (PHA). Facilitates the Management of Change process. Provides support and documentation to the Mechanical Integrity program, as required. Identifies and implements process improvements to improve safety, increase production, reduce cost, and reduce environmental impact.

Work may be checked by more experienced employees; may lead and direct the activities and resources of smaller projects within work group.

Usually detects hazardous working conditions and safety problems; checks equipment and/or work area as required. Reports unsafe working conditions to supervisor/manager; makes basic recommendations to improve safety and security procedures; generally enforces safety regulations and procedures among fellow work group members and occasionally other internal employees. Generally monitors continued compliance of safety procedures after corrective action has been taken.

Technical

• Analytical Skills
Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources at the work group level.

• Engineering Processes
General knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various Engineering departments/disciplines (e.g., design, test, software, technology, avionics). General knowledge of the interaction between departments/ disciplines and how their products/processes affect one another and impact non-engineering processes (e.g., Operations, Logistics, Business).

• Inorganic Chemical Processing
General knowledge of inorganic chemical processing (such as chromic acid anodizing, phosphoric acid anodizing, sulfuric acid anodizing, etching, plating).

Basic Qualifications For Consideration

Do you have experience in chemical processes, mechanical engineering or industrial engineering?

Typical Education/Experience
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Other Job related information
Strong team leadership and project management skills required. Able to apply knowledge towards implementation of Boeing chemical process management standards. Applies knowledge of chemical process technology to complex chemical processing problems in manufacturing environment. Must be able to operate in a factory environment and adapt to change. Must be able to interact with an operations team and focus on maintaining the integrity and safety of the chemical process. Experience in a chemical processing environment. Must have excellent communication and technical writing skills.
