The Company
Our client, a manufacturer of automotive related products, is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineering Manager for it facility near Rockford, IL.
The Opportunity
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will be responsible for the activities of the manufacturing engineering and maintenance departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure adequate support and optimization in the areas of cost reduction, manufacturing processes, tooling, equipment, plant layout, product design and process improvement.
Maintain manufacturing processes by ensuring bill of materials and routing accuracy and maintaining tooling and production equipment for productivity and safety.
Develop new and improved manufacturing processes. This may be completed by analyzing and improving the plant layout, purchasing new and more efficient equipment, and finding ways to reduce manufacturing costs (i.e. reduce scrap, set-up time, etc.).
Monitor and documents items such as cost reductions, downtime, monthly dept. records, and capital expenditures.
Authorize and monitor purchase of equipment repair parts, and tooling (both expense and capital).
Manages employee performance including preparing and delivering employee reviews, counseling employees on performance issues, and developing employee's skills and talents.
Prepares and maintains fiscal budgets (i.e. capital budgets, cost reduction plans and labor plans).
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Technical Engineering field
Seven plus years of previous manufacturing engineering experience, including experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity
Experience with Lean and Six Sigma principles such as process capability, design of experiments, DMAIC
