Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will work out of our Ellwood City, PA facility. The incumbent will direct activities of the manufacturing engineering department to design, test and implement equipment enhancements and processes. This position may require up to 10% travel. The successful candidate will have experience with manufacturing processes, new product introduction, machinery, and documentation.
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will
Establish, implement, and maintain a quality process program throughout the plant in accordance with quality standardsadvocated by the company (including: all applicable ISO 9000 processes and procedures, etc.)
Develop a vision and strategy for the Engineering dept. that supports the company vision, mission and goals.
Manage engineers, work schedules, projects, timelines and budgets related to the design, integration and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and systems.
Ensure the equipment and systems adhere to safety requirements, as well as local, state and federal industry regulations.
Provide direction for engineering to the production area staff. Recommend and direct improvements to the production through the implementation of new processes and equipment.
Investigates and develops plans to install, rebuild, upgrade and relocate equipment.
Ensure manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
Manage and maintain an assembly drawing system for equipment, fixtures & electrical diagrams.
Manage and maintain a DFT document system supporting the manufacturing process.
Assist engineers in troubleshooting equipment or machines that are used on the floor for production.
Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
Develop feedback from operators about the machines, fixtures and other equipment.
Implement, support and expand a data acquisition system to monitor production and facility equipment.
Oversee the installation and startup of new equipment and initiate any modifications, as they become necessary.
Develop training criteria for operators on new equipment and answer any questions they might have.
Investigate, develop, propose and implement cost saving measures regarding the manufacture of products.
Research and order materials needed to complete tasks.
Gathers information to continually evaluate current work processes in order to determine the flow of work, time requirements, costs, and duration.
Applies various industrial engineering problem solving and productivity techniques to evaluate the improvement of recommended strategies and programs.
Analyzes technology trends, personnel needs and market demand to plan projects.
Confers with management, sales, engineering and production staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness and customer demand for new and existing products.
Provide direction and support to all manufacturing engineering projects in the US, Canada and Mexico.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering and a minimum of seven years manufacturing experience.
Previous supervisory experience required.
Demonstrated aptitude for mechanical design.
Five years of process-engineering experience, new product introduction and FMEA.
Prior experience in PLCs, AutoCad and metal fabrication.
Prior experience working in an ISO 9000 and 14001 certified facility.
Prior experience in the successful selection, justification and installation of capital equipment.
Prior experience with Lean Programs, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping and Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED).
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment and correctly identify required repairs.
Six Sigma Black belt highly desired.
Experience with Rolled Throughput Yield (RTY) desired.
Organized Union experience- preferred
