Brief Description The main purpose of this position is to prepare new processes and products for manufacturing, support existing processes and products, and identify and complete cost reduction projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities The significant duties and responsibilities are: * Lead or be a member of cross functional teams * Develop, refine, and document both assembly and test manufacturing processes * Provide continuous improvement on processes?and products (using Lean and 6-Sigma techniques) * Design and develop fixtures for assembly and test functions * Perform failure analysis to determine root cause and apply appropriate problem solving methods * Implement corrective actions to eliminate root cause of design and/or manufacturing failures * Identify and implement tools to increase product throughput and lower cost * Work as cross-functional team member on new product development teams * Perform other duties as directed by the Manufacturing Engineering Manager/Director
Education & Experience * Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or similar Engineering discipline is required
Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities * 0 - 3 years of Manufacturing Engineering experience: * Experience?with precision mechanical, electrical and optical assemblies preferred * Plastic injection and rubber (injection or transfer) molding process development experience also preferred; mold design experience a plus * Desire and ability to utilize a hands-on approach to solve problems and rapidly implement solutions * Ability to lead teams * Excellent coaching skills - ability to transfer knowledge to assembly and test technicians * Excellent verbal ? written communication skills * Working knowledge of CAD, plus 3-D solid modeling exposure * Excellent understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts * Microsoft Office®software suite
Physical Demands * Must be able to spend time sitting at the computer as well as standing in various production areas * Minimal travel may be required to visit vendors
