Job Description
The Los Angeles Manufacturing Development Program (LAMDP) is designed to attract the best talent and provide a solid career foundation that will assist them in becoming outstanding leaders. The LAMDP Associate will gain valuable experience in various manufacturing departments/functions across the Los Angeles Plant.

LAMDP consists of at least three rotational assignments in a two year period through the Fractionation and Pharma Manufacturing Business Units.
Responsible for executing all processes in production while strictly adhering to cGMP, environmental health and safety guidelines and any other related regulations, which could apply. Expected to fully participate in both departmental projects and any other quality working team that may be acceptable. Expected to train other technicians. Under the general direction of the lead operator and the overall direction of the supervisor, this position shall be responsible for the hands on execution of all activities in the production area. The incumbent shall troubleshoot existing procedures, equipment etc.
LAMDP Associates have the opportunity to develop their skills through rigorous, hands-on experience coupled with specific technical and leadership training and mentoring. LAMDP Associates are eligible to participate in the developmental programs targeted for this level of position.
LAMDP Associates can be assigned positions in various segments of our manufacturing facility.
1. Clean manufacturing and associated support areas.
2. Clean equipment, which may include stationary entered tanks.
3. Provide critical process monitoring and trouble-shooting of minor problems, may use measuring devices to make product/process quality decisions.
4. Provide support to Manufacturing operators and may make decisions on product acceptability.
5. Follow departmental safety procedures, may conduct cGMP audits of department areas.
6. Assist in updating SOPs.
7. Maintain awareness of proper handling and removal of hazardous wastes.
8. Train other technicians.
9. Perform the operations he/she is qualified on, which may include the following
a. Process Monitoring
b. Additions
c. Buffer/Solution make up
d. Set up and operation of various equipment
e. Centrifugation and Filter Press operations
f. Other activities as determined by the supervision
10. Perform precipitate and paste collection from Westfalias and Filter presses.
11. Perform alcohol and or buffer additions and take manual sightglass readings from stationary tanks.
Job Requirements
Requires BS Degree in Science or Engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred) with 0 - 2 years experience
Demonstrated Leadership skills to include personal accountability, decision quality, customer focus, drive for results, and integrity and trust
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong influencing skills
Ability to multi-task effectively
Ability to solve technical problems
Flexibility to work in assignments across functions and locations in a fast-paced environment.
Candidates must be authorized to be legally employed on an on-going basis in the United States
1. Must have general working knowledge of how to operate, clean, and set up Westfalia centrifuges and filter presses.
2. Must have good written and verbal communication skills and understanding of cGMP regulations.
3. Proficient in a variety of mathematical disciplines and be able to work with both the metric and USA standards of measurement.
4. Must be able to read and follow detailed written instructions.
5. May require immunization before performing work within the manufacturing area.
6. Must be able to perform all three step and five step cleaning as per the current equipment cleaning procedure at the plant.
7. Must have general knowledge of how to perform additions, weigh up solutions using portable and floor scales, and properly package and contain precipitates and paste.
8. Must be able to demonstrate leadership skills. Must have good computer skills.
