Our Software and Information Engineering Product Line is seeking a Manager to lead the Integrated Informatics business area. The candidate will be responsible for managing our product line efforts in services and product development in this area. This full-time position will be located in Columbus (OH). Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience.
Job Description
Responsible for the management of the Integrated Informatics domain area within the product line contributing to the growth and continued viability of the organization. Prepares and implements short and long-term plans for that function. Also responsible for management of staff and resources while monitoring the performance of software development work. The manager for the Integrated Informatics area will be initially responsible for revenues exceeding $3 million and over 15 direct reports.
Primary Responsibilities
· Develops and implements a strategic business plan for the area managed in support of Battelle's strategic plan.
· Analyzes and identifies business opportunities in support of the defined market, market potential, key clients and viability of technologies for business emphasis.
· Participates in marketing activities to clients, manages and may contribute to proposal preparation.
· Manages the financial performance of the assigned group as a portion of the SIE's gross business volume, capital equipment expenditures, net income contribution and various overhead expenditures. Prepares annual budgets and forecasts of business volume.
· Manages staff availability for project work and analyzes staff skill mix relative to strategic business operations. Recruits, hires, appraises performance, administers salaries, prepares staff development plans and approves timecards.
· Manages technical quality, business ethics and staff performance to attain high quality research and development work. Develops and implements quality assurance and control policies consistent with and in support of our CMMI compliant process improvement efforts.
· Implements, executes and communicates policies and decisions of upper management. Integrates top management decisions into operating policies and procedures.
· Resolves conflicts between staff members, staff and clients to ensure effective project performance.
· Prepares activity and performance reports.
THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
· Requires at least a Bachelor degree in an engineering discipline.
· Must have sufficient communication skills to effectively interact with top management internally and within client organizations, subcontractors, consultants and staff.
· Sound customer interface skills to contribute to presentations to both business leaders/decision makers and technical audiences, to collaborate and translate client requirements, and so on.
· Self-direction and motivation to take initiative to address issues in scope of responsibility, to manage multiple action items and tasks, and to keep stakeholders engaged and informed.
· Requires prior work experience in project management, team leadership, marketing technology, administration of industrial and government standards for proposal preparation, accounting and financial management as typically acquired in 10 to 15 years of work experience.
