Manager, Procurement – Packaging
Position Purpose:
Responsibility for strategically managing packaging materials for manufacture in a BVF, and associated BVF co-manufacturing, plants. Maintain an uninterrupted supply packaging material to BVF plants while optimizing price, quality and service.
Principal Responsibilities:
Negotiating with suppliers to BVF on a global scale to attain best optimal solution of price, quality, and service to every BVF plant
Working with plant personnel to maintain plant production schedules as well as administer vendor relationships arising from logistic challenges
Keep attuned to any and all world events that affect the market prices, and report out to senior management on a timely basis
Produce price forecasts for packaging materials for all the business, and monitor that price risk against budgeted line item prices and usage. Initiate Right Side/Cost Saving objectives and serve as project manager in order to ensure execution of economic benefit through the business
Daily / Periodic Tasks
Identify suppliers on a global basis for strategic sourcing of packaging materials
Monitoring packaging material markets globally
Forecasting packaging material prices and communicates any risks or opportunities within our current supply positions
Managing and correcting supply and quality problems/issues at BVF plants
Ensuring vendor compliance with company purchasing policy, and company quality policy
Develop and communicate packaging strategy
Negotiating with suppliers to achieve optimal supply agreements
Providing market & pricing support documentation to support PPV detail
Requirements:
Manager, Procurement – Packaging
Education or equivalent experience
Basic Skill set (list required skills):
Communication, analytical, technical, computer effectiveness, effective negotiation, teamwork and consensus building
Be superior at understanding market dynamics on particular packaging material portfolios and have quick decision making experience to enable strategic positions for large dollar scale categories
Understanding freight and inventory logistics to attain a “lowest landed" cost for plants.
Strategic Sourcing steps for key vendor negotiations.
Lead and participate in cross functional groups to optimize supplier selection
Specific experience required
Project management experience
Procurement in the Food Manufacturing Industry
Excellent verbal, and communication style, and superior negotiation experience
Key Competencies
