Position Description:
Responsible for meeting the planning staffing needs of programs and shop floor scheduling staffing needs of Operations. This Manager will direct the planning/scheduling personnel associated with the assigned program and/or manufacturing flow in support of achieving negotiated objectives. The responsibilities associated with this position include oversight of shop floor scheduling across multiple programs to manage people and equipment resources efficiently, ensuring program plans brought to the flow are reasonable and executable, and ensuring material flow from supply chain groups meets scheduled needs.

Scope and Principle Duties:

The Planning Manager will negotiate proper planning and scheduling support levels with program representatives, assign appropriate individuals to the tasks, and oversee the work performed via development and use of metrics and contact with client programs/flows. The Manager will ensure the quality and quantity of work performed by the staff meets agreed upon program/flow needs and budgets, and is compliant with applicable laws and ITT SSD policies and procedures. The Manager will participate in and/or drive process improvements and standardizations required to increase efficiency and flexibility of the staff. The Manager will perform supervisory duties such as coaching and mentoring staff to higher levels of performance, assist with career and succession planning, set skill/certification requirements and ensure compliance, and ensure etc. The Manager will develop the department budgets and manage the budget to ensure compliance with AOP targets, as well as monitor future demand for the group's skill codes and plan future staffing levels accordingly.

Required Skills:

' Strong customer focus, and the ability to represent Operations and SSD in front of external customers where appropriate
' Strong communication skills up and down the Operations organization and across the division
' Management vision to develop and track meaningful organizational objectives consistent with higher level Operations and ITT goals
' Organizational maturity, able to work effectively within the current state while striving to attain future state
' Ability to work within client programs' organization structures to get action (know WBS , PPC methods, IPT/PM structures, etc)
' Ability to effectively manage a department budget to goals, prepare AOP/plans, make intelligent trades on cost versus service levels
' Knowledge of SSD financial system, regular reports received, AOP inputs required, ability to understand cost elements, investigate/resolve anomalies, and do "what ifs"
' Leadership ability to mentor/coach employees to higher performance level and do career planning
' Sufficient planning/scheduling subject matter expertise in planning/scheduling processes/tools (OMS, MS Project, showcase/BOBJ, etc) to solve problems, recommend improvements, and coach employees to a higher skill level
' Ability to champion/drive process improvements within the team and with client programs
' Knowledge of and ability to stay current with SSD Operations and HR policies, procedures, goals
' Ability to manage staffing levels to meet current needs, project and plan for future needs

Supervisory Responsibility:

Directly supervises a staff of planners and/or schedulers, may supervise supervisors of small groups in the department. This position reports the Site Director of Operations.


Financial Responsibilities:

' Prepare department budget(s) for the supervised work group including labor and expenses
' Manage department performance to meet budget targets
' Ensure staff compliance with labor charging guidelines
Experience Requirements:
Requirements include a B.S. degree in Business, Engineering, or other Technical fields, and/or an MBA with a Minimum of 10 years experience in Production Control and MRP based systems, plus demonstrated success in the management of personnel and budgets.

Working Condition:

General office / manufacturing environment requiring the ability to stand or sit for long periods of time. Use of personal protective equipment maybe required to be used. This position requires the ability to work with computers, lift up to 25 pounds, and engaging in business travel using various means of transportation.


Security Clearance:

This position requires the passing of both a background investigation and a polygraph to achieve a variety of compartmented national security clearances. The individual holding this position must be a U. S. Citizen.


This position is located in Bloomfield, NJ.
