Manager, Engineering Effectiveness - AMS

AMS's Engineering organization seeks an engineer with experience in organizational design, effectiveness, knowledge management, and mentoring. Selected incumbent will conduct organizational analyses to maximize overall organizational capability. Perform detailed review of leadership development, knowledge management, and headcount/employment data to identify productivity opportunities and optimize the deployment and development of engineering resources. Specific focus on developing knowledge management, mentoring, and other organizational structures to meet the unique needs of AMS's Engineering organization. Will work directly with Chief Program/Project engineers and Functional Engineering managers to support resource/headcount planning and the deployment of engineering resources to meet development and sustaining program needs. This selected incumbent will report directly to AMS's Director, Engineering Projects and will also have direct interface with AMS's Director, Engineering Component and System Design.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop detailed process to measure organizational effectiveness and identification of task based resource deployment.
- Support broad business growth strategies through the gap analysis of current engineering skills assessment vs. future needs.
- Work closely with AMS's leadership team (including HR) to design and execute organizational strategies to enhance AMS's engineering skill depth and business objectives with a focus on internal resources and the use of external resources in global markets.
- Conduct external benchmarking of peer companies to build competitive intelligence and identify best in class knowledge management, and engineering development practices.
Air Management Systems (AMS) is a leading supplier of air conditioning systems (air cycle and vapor cycle), liquid cooling systems, temperature control systems, pressurization control systems, ventilation control systems, electric fans, ice protection, humidification and fuel tank (NGS)inerting systems. Graduate Degree in Engineering or Business/Organizational Development MBA preferred.
ACE Associate Certification Req'd - Practitioner progress preferred.
5-10 Lean Manufacturing experience; Proficient application and use of ACE tools; Applicant should have 10-15 yrs experience in mechanical/electrical design and project management.
Proficient in technical data analysis, and utilization of Microsoft Excel, Project Management, and PowerPoint. Capable of preparing and providing management presentations, estimates and proposals. Strong leadership and interpersonal communications skills to interface and motivate effectively within salaried and bargaining unit environment. Working knowledge of JDE/One-World, QCPC Manager, CAD, and Tiger systems preferred. Effective change agent to drive Continuous Improvement.
