Position Summary / Key Job Responsibilities:
The Machining Shop Supervisor is responsible for managing all in-house machining and assuring that all work is performed in accordance with the company Quality System, Safety Policies and customer requirements. Specific job responsibilities for are given below.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for managing day to day machining and insure compliance with the company quality system in order to maintain high standards of quality, reliability and safety.
• Responsible for insuring that all shop employees follow documented instructions given on the shop orders in order to control product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
• Responsible for managing and controlling all machine shop supplies in accordance with the company Quality System and manufacturer requirements.
• Responsible for administering & documenting the training of employees on new Operating Procedures (OP), new processes, machining techniques and coating according to shop operating procedures.
• Responsible for administering and documenting weekly safety meetings as they relate to machining.
• Responsible for interfacing with third party inspectors as required per quality requirements.
• Responsible for recording, updating and approving employees time using Kronos.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required
• A strong mathematical background or machine trade school is required
• Fluent in English both reading and writing
• Good leadership and management skills are a must
• 10 years experience in machining and 5 years experience in managing machine shop personnel and complex activities. These experiences should be gained in the area of CNC machining and high production operations
• Have the ability to read and understand shop routers
• Proficient with using the Machinist Handbook.
• Must be self-motivated and have the ability to project manage and problem solve on a regular basis.
• Must be able to interface directly with customers and present positive company image
• Must have at least ten years of broad technical experience, of which at least three years should be in CNC machining.
• Must have a good understanding of machine tools, manual machining and CNC machining and programming.
• Must have a good understanding of dimensional inspection processes used in machining.
• Must have good computer skills and knowledge of computer software (Windows, Word, Excel, etc).
• Must have a good understanding of production planning and Microsoft Project Scheduling.
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills
• Must have experience in using statistical process controls
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks and work flexible hours
• Must be able to pass an extensive background check and physical
• Must be dependable and trustworthy
• Quality training requirements for the QAM and QSP for this position are given in QF-005 & QF-006 respectively
• Training on safety, welding procedures, drawings, shop routers or work instructions as needed
