We are currently seeking a mid-level embedded software engineer to lead a software project team.
The software engineer will be responsible for: · Financial tracking and progress assessment using an Earned Value Management System (EVMS) · Creating staffing plans · Coordinate software engineering efforts · Negotiating with programs and management for labor resources and managing their efforts · Coordinating software document creation (SRS, SDD, SDP, ICD, STP) · Leading document and source code peer reviews · Participate in design reviews · Presenting project status briefings · Interfacing and collaborating with other groups (System Engineering, Hardware Design, Program Management, Quality, Configuration Management) · Participating, preparing and/or leading bid and proposal efforts · Generation of and managing software requirements · Participate in and contributing to out-of-the-box and/or new business pursuit discussions · Communicating, motivating, and facilitating project execution by the team · Provide technical expertise and leadership to software and hardware development teams · Provide direction and oversight of junior software engineers
B.S., M.S. or PhD in Physics / CE / CS / EE / CE / Math or related field of equivalent experience
The successful candidate is a highly motivated self-starter who can work in a team environment with minimal supervision, demonstrating good interpersonal skills (listening, negotiation, problem-solving, and customer service), and having excellent communication, presentation (written and verbal), and organization skills with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and to adjust to changing priorities
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, team members, and customers.
Articulates (verbal and written) the design decisions and implementations
Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and have demonstrated ability to work effectively across groups of diverse disciplines
Ability to interact effectively with other team members as well as individuals in other disciplines and organizations.
Must be able to motivate team members to meet critical deadlines and schedules.
Must have capability to translate user objectives into software requirements. Also must display good leadership qualities and ability to relate complex communication system concepts to external and internal customers.
Experience with C /C, OOP
Experience leading a software program through the entire life cycle
Experience leading software engineers (software lead, technical lead)
Working knowledge of Rational ClearCase / ClearQuest helpful.
Minimum of 7 years experience with embedded programming or application programming using vxWork or Linux or other real-time operating systems on single-board computers.
Minimum of 5 years experience planning and performing software development
Business Minor, Business Undergrad or MBA helpful
Due to the nature of our work qualified candidates must have or be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
This position may be filled at a higher grade based on the successful applicants skills, education and experience.
