Lead Principal Rocket Propulsion Engineer 5\6

Primary propulsion system design and vehicle integration leader for NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) Core Stage elements. Develops new concepts, theories and products that extend knowledge in propulsion integration. Serves as a consultant to top management in long-range company planning for new or projected areas of technological research and advancement. Prime spokesperson on company's technical capabilities and future directions. Uncovers and resolves issues associated with the development and implementation of programs. Leads business-unit or industry multidisciplinary, multi-program or multi-system development, certification and support of propulsion systems on vehicles. Shapes long-term strategy and policy at a business unit or industry level on all aspects of propulsion system, auxiliary power system and fuel system design, integration, testing and certification. Some travel may be required. Works under minimal direction. US citizenship is required.

• Propulsion System Test & Cert
Basic - Advanced knowledge of development, production and certification testing and/or qualification processes and procedures, including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements. Ability to represent the project at a business-unit level.
Preferred - Highly advanced knowledge of development, production and certification testing and/or qualification processes and procedures, including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements. Ability to represent the company at an industry level.

Typical Education/Experience
Level 5 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level 6 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 20 or more years' experience, Master's with 18 or more years' experience or PhD with 15 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Other Job related information
Mechanical or aerospace engineering degree preferred. Must be a US citizen, and able to gain permanent access to Marshall Space Flight Center. Comprehensive experience with modern launch systems preferred. Experience with Boeing launch systems a plus.
