External Job Title Lead Engineering Technician (electrical) AutoReqId 45808BR Function Engineering Division Power Distribution & Controls Assemblies Job Description Eaton Corporation located in Asheville, NC has an opening for a Lead Engineering Technician (electrical) for the Low Voltage Assemblies product line.
The Lead Engineering Technician is responsible for utilizing CAD technology make original layouts or drawings involving new or existing standard apparatus and/or process more complex customer orders, interpreting and working from design specifications, oral instruction or sketched concepts.
The essential functions are:
A. Using Computer Aided Design (CAD) develop schematics, wiring diagrams, motions, clearances and other involved features of an apparatus or customer equipment design.
B. Calculate fits, tolerances, strengths, weights electrical; circuit parameters and similar items. Anticipate manufacturing and/or customer requirement and problems and develop design solutions.
C. Coordinate the drafting work and be responsible for all drawings pertinent to design of customer order project.
D. Consult with engineers or higher classified personnel on problems relating to a design or customer order project. Consult with other departments as required to obtain or provide information.
D. Assist is the guidance of lower classified personnel checking both for accuracy and adherence to established procedures.
F. Fabricate more complex (model) prototypes; set up more complex laboratory tests or experiments requiring some ingenuity. Gather, review and interpret data for presentation to engineers or managers.
G. Checks work to assure conformance with Asheville Plant's quality standards.
An understanding of math, physics, chemistry, machine design and electrical theory is required.
Understanding of CAD and basic drafting principles required.
Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving techniques and ability to troubleshoot customer or manufacturing problems in the data gathering mode as well as seek guidance for solutions. Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements) Associate's Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering Technology from an accredited institution required.
3 years related experience in a manufacturing environment.
