Role Summary/Purpose The Turbine Heat Transfer and Cooling team provides the opportunity to work with a variety of engineering organizations in the development of aircraft engines. Team members apply detailed physics to model high pressure turbine flow path components. In this role you will participate in the design and analysis of aircraft engine blades, nozzles and shroud cooling schemes.
Essential Responsibilities
* Design and analyze airfoil cooling schemes to support the development and testing of aircraft engines

* Participate as a member of cross-functional design teams for aircraft engine components

* Develop and maintain detailed Finite Element Analysis thermal models of assigned hardware

* Apply detailed physics to analysis of high pressure turbine components

* Plan and execute component and engine test programs and utilize the results to validate designs and analytical models

* Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements

* Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project

* Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures

* Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues

* Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

* Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Qualifications/Requirements
* Bachelor's of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science (or a High School Diploma / GED with at least 4 years of IT, engineering, scientific or technical experience)

* A minimum 5 years of experience in an mechanical or aerospace engineering position
Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen.
Desired Characteristics
* Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering or other heat transfer or fluid mechanics

* Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems

* Strong oral and written communication skills

* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

* High level of computer proficiency

* Demonstrated sound engineering judgment

* Effective in contributing in a structured, cross functional team work environment

* Engineering experience in GE Aviation turbo machinery design

* Experience with analytical software such as Patran, CFX, ANSYS, Matlab, UG, etc.

* Minimum of 2 years of specialized work in thermal fluid sciences
