Lead Engineer, Propulsion'; Piper Aircraft, Inc. is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer, Propulsion at their location inVero Beach,Florida. SUMMARY: Define all engineering data for installation and support of new and modified powerplants and propulsion related systems. Direct the activities of propulsion system engineers and drafters. Ensure all aircraft powerplant systems are modeled in CAD. Ensure all analyses required for proper engine and engine systems operations are completed. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Direct design of all propulsion systems on new aircraft, including but not limited to the engine installation, inlet/exhaust air, fuel systems, and fire detection and control systems. Delegate job assignments related to propulsion systems design and analysis to engineers and designers as required. Produce conceptual layouts, manual installation, and assembly design and detail drawings. Utilize computer aided design (CAD) to generate drawings when necessary. Track departmental programs drawings status and keep designers apprised of drawing schedule responsibilities. Notify Chief Engineer and Program Management of anticipated schedule deviations. Assist with hiring of propulsion engineers. Review all Engineering Orders, drawings, and models for accuracy and ensure program weight and cost goals are met. Produce all propulsion test and substantiation reports required for development and certification. Produce all required certification documentation, including Systems Safety Analysis and Functional Hazard Assessment Reports. Select and interact with outside vendors as necessary to complete the propulsion systems design. Perform other related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Requires a Bachelors’ Degree or higher in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Aerospace Engineering, and minimum ten years experience with propulsion and systems installation development and certification. Prior senior leadership of propulsion or systems design personnel is required. Experience on new aircraft development projects is preferred. Working knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) 21 and 23, systems schematics, systems operation and installations, drafting and solid modeling, and CAD (computer aided design) experience is necessary to perform the duties of this position. **Only applicants presently legally authorized to work in a full-time basis need apply.
