Role Summary/Purpose The Military and Civil Flight Management Systems (FMS) - Flight Plan Management and Interface Requirements Engineer will perform analysis and evaluate design choices for GE's growing avionics product line. You will have the opportunity to work with internal and external customers on design elements.
Essential Responsibilities GE is committed to developing the best avionics solutions and is looking for innovative engineers to apply their talents to both civil and military applications. In this position, you will:

* Evaluate and translate customer requirements

* Perform analysis to determine best design solutions

* Write software requirements and verify expected operation

* Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements

* Write and verify software requirements for Flight Management Systems

* Provide technical guidance, direction, and training to new and experienced engineers and students

* Lead others in defining project scope

* Develop practical or innovative approaches to meet goals

* Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures

* Identify, evaluate, and occasionally develop engineering tools and processes necessary to meet the project's engineering and business goals
Qualifications/Requirements
* Bachelor's Degree of Science in Engineering, Physics, Aerospace, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science

* Minimum of 4 years experience as a Systems or Software Engineer developing a ground or airborne avionics system (or other related system)

* Minimum of 2 years experience Leading / Mentoring others
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

* This position requires access to controlled technology. To abide by Export Compliance
regulations, candidates must have either US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident Alien
Status.

Desired Characteristics
* Knowledge of FMS functionality such as Flight Plan Management and / or input / output (I/O) strongly preferred

* Strong oral and written communication skills

* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

* General Microsoft (MS) Windows XP, MS Office 2010 Professional, DOORS and Dimensions experience

* Interest in Aviation
