External Job Title Lead Electrical Product Engineer (ETI) AutoReqId 43094BR Function Engineering Division Commercial Distribution Products Job Description Eaton Corporation located in Asheville, NC has an opening for a Lead Electrical Product Engineer for the Electrical Transportation Infrastructure product line.
This exciting new position is an electrical designer position within the Electrical Transportation Infrastructure for individuals with significant experience designing electrical and electronic products. Candidates must have demonstrated the ability to complete projects with minimal guidance as this is a leading position for the electrical and electronic designs for electrical car chargers and stations. This position requires a high degree of creativity and an outstanding working knowledge of electronic and electrical principles. Knowledge of Electric charging of vehicles or any other equipment is a plus. Design responsibilities include conceptual product design working directly with engineering team, customers, field sales or marketing. The position requires that the individual be capable of developing the concept, creating the design documentation and all calculations related to applicable safety regulations such as UL, NFPA, IEC, IEEE & NEC. The candidate must be capable of multitasking and working with short delivery cycles. The candidate must also be capable of working in a fast pace team environment. The candidate will be responsible for tracking quality measurements relating to the product designs and developing plans for improvement. BS in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, 5-7 years minimum experience in a related industry. Must possess strong interpersonal and presentation skills. Strong track record in managing and delivering new product designs on time and within budget is mandatory. Knowledgeable in Six Sigma tool usage for Design and Development is preferred (certified Green Belt, or Black Belt in training). Experience with ProLaunch Process for New Product Design is preferred.
The essential functions are: A. Provide product design and project management for new product development projects or existing product design changes. B. Produce electrical layouts and electronic circuits for new designs. C. Able to take complete PRO Launch project responsibility for design project. Develop design concepts of an ingenious and patentable nature. D. Create layouts, drawings, and bills of material for completeness and accuracy. Perform necessary calculations such as: sizes, tolerances, fit, and weights as required to prove adequacy of design.
E. Provide accurate drawings and/or electronic data to manufacturing personnel or outside sources. F. Exercise a working knowledge of shop fabrication, manufacturing, machining, and assembly, and demonstrate full understanding of data input/output requirements of vendors and suppliers. G. Support plant quality initiatives and cost improvement objectives. Recommend and implement ongoing process and procedural improvements in support of the operation of the department. H. Embedded microprocessor and DSP hardware/firmware system design and programming experience is a definite plus. I. Support other engineer(s) during their absence. J. Direct support personnel for the assembly and testing of prototypes and models. K. Keep abreast of technology advancements and make recommendations on equipment, software, and design processes.
L. Experience with electrical circuit simulation tools such as PSPICE and system level simulation tools such as Matlab is desired.
