Position Summary: Generate and develop designs for a variety of products that will enable the company to revolutionize the marine industry. Provide visionary design leadership with a strong sense of aesthetic, visual style, function, and form-giving ability.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
* Integrate industrial design into the business through attending regular divisional communication meetings, understand business strategies and product plans
* Contribute to, then work within, criteria established by a multi-disciplinary product development team while adhering to the HPPD process
* Determine materials, construction, mechanics, shape, color, surface finish, manufacturing processes and packaging in cooperation with a multi-disciplinary product development team
* Manage workload balancing and recommend outsourcing strategies to leverage specialized skillset needs and resources to maximize product development efficiency
* Execute functional designs with the highest level aesthetic appeal to maximize customer desire / market success
* Develop plans to create breakthrough product ideas and execute advanced design concepts
* Create documentation necessary to convey design solutions through image / trend boards, sketches, renderings, 3-D models, CAID surface data and written reports
* Stay abreast of trends in material usage, design, style, color and graphics
* Maintain industrial design archive
Job Requirements: Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements:
* Excellent traditional and digital sketching and rendering abilities to effectively communicate design intent
* Proven project management skills
* Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
* Ability to provide clear, insightful, and actionable design critiques
* Passionate about design with the ability to present effectively to all levels of the organization
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, Alias, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
* Proficient with time management, planning, and organizational tools and techniques
* Leverage technology and processes to continuously improve speed and efficiency
* Extensive knowledge of production processes
Education and Experience Requirements
* Bachelor Degree in Industrial Design required
* Minimum of 10 years of industrial design experience
