Job Description :

B/E Aerospace Inc. is the world’s largest manufacturer of aircraft interior products including Galleys and seating, with an installed base of over 1 million premium, business class and tourist class seats. At ourLeighton Buzzard facility in the UKwe provide a spares and aftermarket support for all of our seat and Galley models, manufacturing both newly designed and existing components.

To enhance our expanding business we are seeking an exceptional person for the role of Lead Design Engineer - Structures. You will be responsible for the delivery of the New Product Introduction Design the Product process. By selecting and building a team, contributing to the Work Breakdown Structure, creating and maintaining a project plan and by using your kowledge you will deliver Engineering programmes on time, specification and budget.

Prime Responsibilities:

• To build, lead and develop a team with an appropriate mix of skills to deliver the engineering solution
• To provide technical leadership and direction to the team
• To define, delegate and report status of the Work Breakdown Structure.
• Organise and participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process. Ensure that all necessary follow up actions are taken.
• To organise and run FMECA reviews and ensure that appropriate actions are carried out to mitigate risk.
• To work the Certification department to ensure that the design solution meets the appropriate airworthiness requirements
• To maintain the engineering quality and integrity of the work produced within their work package
• To lead and manage the Design input into all the customer meetings such as Initial Technical Coordination Meeting, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, First Article Inspection and Programme Reviews.
• Cost and weight targets must be monitored, managed and met
• Lead Engineers will be expected to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers and to manage data transfer
• The selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element and to provide assistance to other team members
• Ensure the successful integration of each design element with the product as a whole
• Follow and contribute to the development of the Best Practice guidelines as laid out in documentation
• To check engineering packages and where possible, to gain Authorised Signatory status for their area of expertise.
• Generate and/or revise specifications
• To contribute to and provide assistance in the preparation of sales bids.
• From time to time, Lead Engineers must be prepared to undertake other tasks as requested by their immediate supervisors.

Job Requirements :

• Demonstrated engineering experience to create effective engineered solutions and to provide design input to other team members
• Good organisational, management and leadership skills
• Excellent communication skills
• A skilled user of the incumbent CAD and data management systems
• A good knowledge of the various methods of manufacture to be employed such as:
1. Machining
2. Casting
3. Vacuum forming
4. Injection moulding
5. Composite materials
6. Trim and finish
• A good knowledge of the effective application of tolerances and G D & T
• A good knowledge of material selection
• A good knowledge of protective treatments
• A good knowledge of aircraft interior architecture
• A good understanding of the best practice for the integration of mechanical and electrical systems
• A good knowledge and of and demonstrated application of company procedures and best practices
• A good working knowledge of the certification framework within which the work is undertaken
• A good working knowledge of the companies change control process
• A good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Lotus Notes

We are looking for someone with a Degree/HND in specialised field and 10 years minimum relevant experience. You must have good leadership skills, excellent communication and team working skills and be competent presenting to a senior management. You must be able to work with a minimal level of supervision and intervention. You must be ble to travel to support company objectives and therefore a full clean driving licence is required.
